Nobody can stop you from reaching your desired hair length, but you. Cut down on your sugar intake, eat more fruits and vegetables, as the sugars from these are best for your hair growth and your overall health. Stay away from processed foods (junk foods) or cut back gradually.

Funny how, a healthier head of hair, indicates a healthier you.

Redefine your Natural hair goals this 2017, you might just reach it.

Your hair says more about you than you think. Remember, its the crown you never take off.

Stop Speculating Lies About Afro Hair

I know you must have heard many times by now, that Afro-textured hair cannot grow long, lacks shine and it is very difficult to manage.

I will not be surprised if you actually BELIEVE  it to be true too, but I can’t imagine God creating any imperfections.

Is it ignorance that has caused us to not take the   proper care and management of our natural and beautiful tresses?

What is the texture that a baby born to African decents come out with?

What actually causes us to straighten, chemicalise, burn and mal-treat our beautiful coils?  The wearing of artificial wigs surpasses it all currently.

What is the real reason behind Mothers putting a perm into their gorgeous daughter’s hair at that early?

Have we been brain washed into thinking that our hair is problematic and a  burden?

Is it that we have never taken the time and the interest to learn and study about how to handle our own hair?

Love, care and nuture is all our Afro hair is begging for, yet we interpret it differently by dehydrating it and eventually destroying what was once so beautiful.

The texture that we come out of the womb with is – beautiful, soft and lovely curls.

However, have you noticed your hair being dry and brittle?
The underlying problem my dear sister is  your diet and life-style choices.

Remember how curly, gorgeous and moisturised your hair was when you were a baby?
What if I tell you it is possible to maintain and grow it to any length of your choice,  as was intended.

We see other cultures do this – they come out of the womb with same texture they  grow up with.
The question then is – do they understand their hair better than we do?
We need to stop copying blindly. Just because certain hair types use shampoos and other chemicals does not mean its ok for us.

We need to find out what works well to maintain the moisture we were born with.
Trust me this is very possible if we didn’t start dehydrating our cells and hence our hair.

We all need to stop the dehydrating process for the sake of our hair which will lead to our total health.

Start by eating more juicy fruits, juicing your fruits, making smoothies, drinking fresh water to say a few.

Enough of the junk food which is equal to dehydration.

Our hair needs moisture and this can be achieved by taking in the right liquids (excluding coffees and certain types of teas) and topically applying moisture to our hair.

Anything that will cause dehydration must be avoided at all cost i.e shampoo – dehydrates curly hair as it stripes them of their natural oils.
However if you must use, because of addictions, then make sure you saturate your hair with olive oil or coconut oil before you wash it out.

My advice – conditioners can replace your shampoos especially your sulphate laden ones.

Better still the natural alternatives are the way forward.
